Former Marine Describes Gruesome/Illegal Acts Perpetrated in Iraq
Interconnectedness
There's a song, an old 60s song that has a lyric that goes, "There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear." The song was referencing Vietnam and the resulting tumultous atmosphere experienced by young Americans here at home. The lyric though can be applied to life in general. I was watching a comic this weekend named Doug Stanhope. Mr. Stanhope is extremely funny but he is also very dismissive of religion or really a belief in anything at all that he can't see or prove with his own eyes, i.e. superstitions, etc. This was where Mr. Stanhope and myself part ways. I'm not religious in the traditional sense and we won't get into the specifics of my beliefs, but lets just say that I'm convinced there IS something happening here. In a movie called Waking Life they reference a crossword puzzle experiment,
"I like that. It's like there's this whole telepathic thing going on that we're all a part of, whether we're conscious of it or not. That would explain why there are all these seemingly spontaneous worldwide innovative leaps in science and the arts, you know, like the same results popping up everywhere independent of each other. Some guy on a computer figures something out, and then almost simultaneously a bunch of other people all over the world figure out the same thing. They did this study where they isolated a group of people over time, you know, and monitored their abilities at crossword puzzles in relation to the general population, and they secretly gave them a day-old crossword, one that had already been answered by thousands of other people, and their scores went up dramatically. Like 20%. So it's like once the answers are out there, people can pick up on them. Like we're all telepathically sharing our experiences."
Not to mention many of us have experienced what is called the Baader-Meinhoff Phenomenon, synchronicity , and other liminal experiences.
We've all heard of instances where a mother has known about the death of her child or some impending disaster for her child without reason. They have a premonition or simply have a bad feeling come over them without knowing why and knowing only that something terrible has happened.
My only point in referencing all of this is simply to say that perhaps there is something to the notion of a human interconnectedness. That there is an unseen force, a great wave of concious energy that we can't see, hear or smell but that unites us all in a way that we don't understand yet.
I believe that I meet certain people for a reason, that people enter my life for a distinct purpose as yet unknown. I believe that everything has the possibility of meaning something. By that I mean to say that if there is an unknown force pushing things toward us then there is the possibility for meaning in everything. That maybe we can count on some determination and that this isn't just a bunch of random occurences. Maybe there is some order in the chaos. Some people call that God.
I think its popular currently, among the pseudo-intellectuals to deny these sorts of things out of hand. The funny thing is, that they gain a psychological feeling of togetherness with their colleagues by collectively denying other peoples "silly" superstitions and beliefs. While the beliefs themselves are based, at least in part, on the idea of people being connected.

By chance two seperate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land

This Morning: Fire
I got to work at 7:45 and it started immediately. Anyone in business or any related field knows what it is to put out fires, but this wasn't just a fire, I felt like I had traveled to the earths core, or got blasted into the sun. These are the kind of fires that get people fired and even sued. Mistakes had been made. I was on the phone with an auditor, a lawyer. I stopped for a cigarette. I yelled at an old women on the phone for being utterly useless and confusing me. I pulled files, one after another until I had almost too much information to look at. Back on the phone. My assistant, which I share with two other people, was being screamed at in the conference room, why? Bad vibes all around. I ate some crackers with cream cheese and went back to my desk. I opened my new book, "Gods, Demigods, and Demons: An Encyclopedia of Greek Mythology" and turned randomly to a page..."Ophion: The universal serpent. In the beginning there was a storm of nothingness which clotted into the form of a serpent, Ophion, who had no eyes because there was nothing to see. Yet he slithered this way and that amongst the rubble of space, called Chaos, searching for something that was not there. And the rage of his blind searching moved invisibly as wind. The pack of searching winds coursed like hounds and blew so hotly that they kindled a corner of Chaos and set it aflame. From this flame Ophion sired Sun, Earth, stars, and all living things."
Hmmm, so maybe something good can come from fire.
Ok, no more time to write. Gotta get back into it.

MI-5 Can Discredit Me

A little while back I wrote a post entitled "In The News". It was about Max Moseley and his 5 HOUR NAZI SEX ROMP that was caught on tape and subsequently revealed to the public. It looks like this story has some real STAYING POWER because this morning I saw another story that really makes the whole thing even more bizzare and much, much more interesting. It seems that MI-5, the British Spy Agency, has fumbled up so badly that there is all kinds of signs pointing to their complicity in organizing, filming and releasing the filthy Nazi sex tape in order to discredit Mr. Moseley for unknown reasons. How could the agency of 007 fame drop the ball on what seemed to be a fairly simple operation when they did other more complicated things so well?
In any case, someone even told Moseley he was a target, "When the story broke, Mosley said he had been told by a source close to the security services (MI5) that he had been targeted in a covert investigation of his private life “by a group specialising in such things for reasons and clients as yet unknown”."
Read the whole story on the MI-5 connection here.

Racist Obama T-shirts

Oh wow! The Georgia Bar Owner acknowledged the imagery's Jim Crow roots but said he sees nothing wrong with depicting a prominent African-American as a monkey. "We're not living in the (19)40's," he said. "Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George."
This guy is going to piss off a lot of people no matter what his thoughts on the matter are.

In My Life
We're having a SON! His name will be Ethan. I am overjoyed!
Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,
Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling,
Darling,
Darling Boy.

Said the night wind to the little lamb, "Do you see what I see?"
A collection of quotes. Pay special attention to who is to being quoted and the time in which they lived. If you don't recognize the name, click on it. Think about the things we see going on now and what we are being told, on the tv, and in the paper.

"Vulgas vult decepi" - the people wish to be decieved. -- Phaedrus
"No man is free who is not master of himself. --- Epictetus
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? - Who watches the watchmen?" -- Juvenal, Satires, VI, 347
"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" - Thomas Jefferson
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State." -- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbel
"Oh Mortal Man, is there nothing you cannot be made to believe?" -- Adam Weishaupt
"Don't be deceived when they tell you things are better now. Even if there's no poverty to be seen because the poverty's been hidden. Even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which industries foist on you and even if it seems to you that you never had so much, that is only the slogan of those who still have much more than you. Don't be taken in when they paternally pat you on the shoulder and say that there's no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretence of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they'll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces." -- Jean Paul Marat, 18th Century French Visionary
"The honest man must be a perpetual renegade, the life of an honest man a perpetual infidelity. For the man who wishes to remain faithful to truth must make himself perpetually unfaithful to all the continual, successive, indefatigable renascent errors." -- Charles Peguy
"Such as it is, the press has become the greatest power within the Western World, more powerful than the legislature, the executive and judiciary. One would like to ask: by whom has it been elected, and to whom is it responsible?" --Alexander Solzhenitsyn
"Violence does not and cannot exist by itself; it is invariably intertwined with the lie." -- Alexander Solzhenitsyn
"These sectors of the doctrinal system serve to divert the unwashed masses and reinforce basic social values: passivity, submissiveness to authority, the overriding virtue of greed and personal gain, lack of concern for others, fear of real or imagined enemies, etc. The goal is to keep the bewildered herd bewildered." -- Dr. Noam Chomsky, from What Uncle Sam Really Wants
"The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists." -- J. Edgar Hoover
"We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the world - no longer a Government of free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of small groups of dominant men." -- Woodrow Wilson
"Once a government resorts to terror against its own population to get what it wants, it must keep using terror against its own population to get what it wants. A government that terrorizes its own people can never stop. If such a government ever lets the fear subside and rational thought return to the populace, that government is finished." -- Michael Rivero (This link takes you to his website.)
"News is what someone wants to suppress. Everything else is advertising." -- Rubin Frank, former NBC news president
"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have." -- Richard Salent, former President CBS News
"All warfare is based on deception." -- The Art Of War, Sun Tzu
"Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear - kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor - with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it ..." -- General Douglas MacArthur, 1957
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." -- Hermann Goering, at the Nuremberg Trials
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed and hence, clamorous to be led to safety - by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary" -- H.L. Mencken
"The owners of the Washington Post long ago acknowledged that the Post is the government's voice to the people. In 1981, Katherine Graham, who owns the Post and Newsweek announced that her editors would 'cooperate with the national security interests.' National security in this context means 'CIA'." -- John Stockwell, former CIA official
"The news and truth are not the same thing." -- Walter Lippmann, American journalist, 1889-1974
"By a continuous process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method, they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some....The process engages all of the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner that not one man in a million can diagnose." - John Maynard Keynes Economic Consequences of the Peace, 1920
"We in the Congress have a moral and constitutional obligation to protect the value of the dollar and to understand why it is so important to the economy that a central bank not be given the unbelievable power of inflating a currency at will and pretending that it knows how to fine tune an economy through this counterfeit system of money." -- Dr. Ron Paul, US Congressman, R, Texas
"The central bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the Principles and form of our Constitution. I am an Enemy to all banks discounting bills or notes for anything but Coin. If the American People allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the People of all their Property until their Children will wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. "... - Thomas Jefferson
If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, and give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; And the sixteen being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they do now, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account; But be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains around the necks of our fellow sufferers; And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for a second, that second for a third, and so on 'til the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering...and the forehorse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression. -- Thomas Jefferson
"Whoever controls the volume of money in our country is absolute master of all industry and all commerce ... and when you realise that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate." -- President James A. Garfield, just a few weeks before he was assassinated on July 2nd, 1881.
You never need an argument against the use of violence, you need an argument for it. – Noam Chomsky
"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side."-- Aristotle
Do not ever say that the desire to "do good" by force is a good motive. Neither power-lust nor stupidity are good motives.
– Ayn Rand
We are on the verge of global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order -- David Rockefeller
"As America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat." -- Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)
"The fate of the world economy is now totally dependent on the growth of the U.S. economy, which is dependent on the stock market, whose growth is dependent on about 50 stocks, half of which have never reported any earnings." --- former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, September 1999
If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. – James Madison
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government. – Edward Abbey.

Struggle

Trials in life can be tragedies or triumphs, depending on how we handle them. Triumphs don't come without effort, struggle.
A biology teacher was teaching his students how a Caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of the cocoon, but no one should help the butterfly. Then he left.
The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon and against the advice of the teacher, one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly so it didn't have to struggle anymore. But, shortly afterwards, the butterfly died.
when the teacher returned, he was told what had happened. He explained to the student that it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen the butterfly's wings. By helping the butterfly, the boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died.
Apply this same principle to our lives. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without a struggle. As parents we tend to hurt the ones we love most because we don't allow them to struggle to gain strength.

Outlook is Good

For the first time in a while I am having one good day after another. Most of the things that weighed heavily on my mind for so long seem easily overcome now. My work life is going smooth and I'm in a new place(literally and figuratively) and spending more time with Squirmy lately :). I am bringing things back together. I feel as if my life was like a boulder... suspended in space, then, over the last year, it fragmented and began moving outward like the Big Bang. I was in the center of the boulder and as the pieces began moving out of my reach it seemed that I would never bring things back as they once were. Just then (and just in time) I got bigger, and my arms got longer, and I got stronger. I began bringing things back, bringing the pieces back, and setting things right. Now almost everything is back in place, solid, and I feel very much at peace. Even though my life is undergoing massive changes and so so much is at stake I feel like I can handle anything. I feel like I can be the man I need to be now to face challenges and to do things the right way.
